Hip-T Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

I was so happy with the chance to review this awesome product that I had seen online. It's called the Hip-T. You wear it around your hips, so it covers up any areas that might be exposed by low-rise pants and such.

It is wonderful! There are so many great things about it, and let me tell you a few.

I can never find pants/shirts that work well together. When I do buy jeans that fit, they always sag on me. And most pants available to me are low-rise. Or the shirt is just too short to cover enough below.
The problem with that, as you all know, is when you lean over or bend down to get something the pants creep down slowly exposing your lower back (or sometimes a little more). Blah! Who wants to see that.

The Hip-T solution is to cover all that up and still be cute.

I like that I can get good coverage and always feel modest without worrying that it will slip.

I like that I can wear something under all my shirts...without the added bulk of another shirt. This is especially great with the warm summer weather approaching.

And one of the biggest selling points for me was this: THEY CARRY PLUS-SIZES! Hurray! Big girls (like me) need to cover up just as much as everyone else. Their sizes go from XX Small (Youth size 10-12) all the way up to 3XL (24-26).

When I was choosing a size, I asked one of the owners about it. My normal size falls between two of their sizing options. She suggested going for the smaller of the two. I did, and I'm happy that she told me that. I even think next time I might try one size smaller. I always feel like it's a bit stretched out after I wear it for a long time.

These wash well. They are very comfortable to wear too. I can't wait to go out and buy some more. And lucky me...there is a local shop that carries these. But it's super easy to order them online too.

With all the color options, I could wear one of these with each outfit I own. I did, however, choose the white lace Hip-T. It goes well with many of my shirts. It was a good choice for me. I think the next one I get will be a plain black one.

Buy It: You can get your own Hip-T on their website or search for a store that carries them in your area.

Win It: The wonderful owners at Hip-T have offered to give away one Hip-T to a winner here. The winner will get to choose which one they'd like to receive. Believe me, you're going to love this!

Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutt DVD Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

Fridays are usually a lazy day at my house. My son and I will stay in our pajamas longer. I'll let him watch more movies or play longer than usual. There aren't very often pressing matters to be done on Fridays.

So this Friday we were really excited when UPS dropped off a new movie for us first thing in the morning. (Let me just say here, it pays to have a neighbor that drives for UPS!) We made plans to watch our new movie in the afternoon with a big bowl of popcorn.

We got hooked on Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutt right from the beginning. The first observation that Zachariah made was "That dog can talk!" Ha ha, he was stating the obvious, but his reaction was too cute.

Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutt is being released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on Tuesday, May 19th at stores everywhere. The characters from previous Dr. Dolittle movies such as Maya Dolittle and Lucky, her pet dog, are back again.

Maya Dolittle is pursuing her dream to be a veterinarian. She is getting ready for college. But her need to help animals NOW takes her another direction. She heads off to Hollywood actually, even against her mother's advice. But it's all in the name of helping animals.

What Maya doesn't realize in her search for meaning is that things aren't always what they seem. Especially when it comes to Hollywood agents who are just out to make a buck. Luckily for her, the animals are all on her side.

This is a great family movie, and I think it is good for any age. My 3 year old loved all the animals in it. And it was cute and funny as well.

Buy It: You can get your own copy of Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts in stores or online now (as of May 19th). It's available on Blu-ray Disc (which also includes a standard DVD) and DVD.

Win It: I have one (1) Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts DVD to giveaway to you lucky readers.

PlainTales First Tales & PlainTales Explorers CD Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

In March Plain Tales released two brand new sets of stories for children on CD. PlainTales First Tales and PlainTales Explorers.

We truly enjoyed having these CDs in the car and in the house. They made for a really quiet car ride! And the stories are fun and entertaining.

We previewed "The Gingerbread Boy and Other First Tales" from the PlainTales First Tales collection. It has sores of the Gingerbread Boy, the Three Billy Goats Gruff, the Princess & the Frog, the Little Red Hen, and the Bremen Town Musicians. The runtime for this CD is 48 minutes. Having several different stories is just right for short trips. We can usually hear one story getting to a place.

The other CD from the PlainTales First Tales collection is "Paul Bunyan and Other American Tall Tales". It features Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill and Davy Crockett. The runtime for this one is 60 minutes.

We also previewed on of the CD's from the PlainTales Explorers collection: "Animal Tales: Raccoon, Bear and Coyote." This is about fictional animals trying to survive. The stories are a bit longer and don't always hold my 3 year old's attention as much, but he still loves listening to the stories while he plays. It runs about 48 minutes.

The last CD is "Johnny Appleseed and Other American legends" in the PlainTales Explorers collection. It tells stories about Johnny Appleseed, as well as Sacagawea, and John Muir. The runtime is 67 minutes.

PlainTales has other CD collections of stories. They are available on their website. The CD's are recommended for ages 5-10. We found that the shorter stories (especially the PlainTales First Tales "Gingerbread Boy and Other First Tales CD) were perfect for my 3 year old.

Buy It: You can get your own copy of PlainTales First Tales or PlainTales Explorers (of their other exciting CD titles) on PlainTales website.

Win It: I have two of each PlainTales CD that we reviewed, so I will have four (4) to giveaway to you lucky readers.

To enter: Leave a comment here telling me which PlainTales CD (they are all listed on their site) you think your children would enjoy most. You must also leave your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win.

Extra entries: If you'd like to, you may earn extra entries for doing each of the following. Be sure to leave a separate comment for each. You must do the above entry first, then you can do these. (You could have up to 4 chances to win.)

How'd They Build That? DVDs Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

Marvelous Media's How'd They Build That? series now has two new titles "School Bus" and "Concrete Truck". We loved the "Big Truck" & "Fire Truck" DVDs that were released in the fall. Now there are two more titles.

Everyone knows and recognizes School Buses. My son was watching them out the front window at a very young age. His fascination with buses continues today. "School Bus" has received the Dove Foundation's "Seal of Approval" for quality in children's entertainment with one of their highest ratings.

Anyone who has been curious about how buses are built or where they come from will have everything answered. By the way, most of them come from a factory in Tulsa, OK. And they are built start to finish inside the huge factory.

"Concrete Truck" will be interesting to those who are into construction...like my little boy. You will see each step of the process as these big trucks are built. You will also learn how a "Concrete Truck" works.

My son already knows way more than me about how things work and are built thanks to these DVDs. And he doesn't miss an opportunity to tell me all about them either. (Usually leaving me to wonder how in the world he remembers all this.)

More How'd They Build That? DVDs coming soon are "Garbage Truck," "Locomotive," and "Military Machines."

The runtime is around 30 minutes for each of these DVDs. They are recommended for ages 4 and up. Although I have a 3 year old who loves them too.

*Buy It: You can get your own copy of How'd They Build That? "School Bus" & "Concrete Truck" by calling 1-888-251-3661 to order. They are also available at Marvelous Media, Amazon or other online retailers.

*Win It: I have 2 copies of each of these DVDs, making 4 total. So there will be 4 lucky winners.

To enter: Leave a comment here telling me which Marvelous Media video you like best. (That doesn't mean that's what you win.) You must also leave your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win.

Extra entries: If you'd like to, you may earn extra entries for doing each of the following. Be sure to leave a separate comment for each. You must do the above entry first, then you can do these. (You could have up to 4 chances to win.)

Thomas & Friends: Railway Friends DVD Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

I have found out quickly, being a mom of a little boy, that Thomas & Friends is a huge favorite. So many little kids have fallen in love with Thomas, James, Gordon, Percy, Emily, Henry, Sir Topham Hat, and their other friends on the Island of Sodor. It didn't take my son long to join the bandwagon.

At the beginning of February Loinsgate and HIT Entertainment released Thomas & Friends: Railway Friends DVD. This is the first Thomas DVD enhance with CGI animation, so Thomas has a new look.

Thomas & Friends: Railway Friends has 6 new exciting episodes. They are "Best Friends", "The Party Surprise", "Gordon Takes a Shortcut", "Thomas Puts the Brakes On", "Saved You!" and "Excellent Emily".

This DVD also offers another bonus episode of Roary the Racing Car called "Roary's First Day". There are also two games on this DVD: Laying Down the Track Puzzle and Name That Train Game, even more fun for your children.

HIT Favorites: Here Comes Spring DVD Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

Hooray it's finally Spring. It might not be acting like it in certain parts of the country, but it is Spring. HIT entertainment released it's newest collection of videos onto one DVD HIT Favorites: Here Comes Spring.

If you are a fan of any of HIT's shows, you and your children will enjoy this DVD. We love these favorites videos, because it's a great compilation of fun shows. Thomas & Friends have a sailing adventure. In Barney and Friends they learn all about the fun of growing things in a garden. And you get to see more garden excitement in Fifi and the Flowertots. Marley & Me DVD Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

Marley & Me is being released on DVD and Blu-ray today, March 31st. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing is on three-disc Blu-ray, two-disc Special Edition and Dingle Disc DVD.

Marley & Me is about a family's life with their dog. The fun, the love, the playfulness, and the pure frustration of dog ownership. Two newspaper writers get married, move, start new jobs, start a family, and go on with all the adventures of their lives. They buy a dog, Marley, and deal with all his eccentric ways. Marley is there during the hard times, and then other times he just is the hard time.

This movie will be a big hit with any dog lovers. And if you're not, you will still get a good laugh out of it, and it just might convince you to never get a dog. After all Marley is "the world's worst dog".

Our family absolutely loved this movie. We have already watched the screener DVD over and over. In fact my son saw my writing this review, and he asked to watch it again...so we are. I believe I can honestly say this is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

We have a dog, and therefore are dog lovers. We related to this movie in so many ways. My son, Zachariah, really loved all the silliness and crazy things the dog did. Matt, my husband, also really enjoyed this movie. Well, truthfully he told me he didn't like it, but that was only because it made him cry. Zachariah is young enough that it didn't make him cry, because he didn't really understand all that was happening. This movie will have you laughing and crying and everything in between.

The Blu-ray three-disc offers three different movie formats, dog training trivia, and a digital copy of the movie. The two-disc DVD comes with a digital copy, deleted scenes and more. And there is also the single-disc DVD available.

*Buy It: You can get your own copy of Marley & Me in stores or online now.

*Win It: I will be receiving two copies of Marley & Me to give away to you lucky readers.

To enter: Leave a comment here telling me about your first dog/pet. You must also leave your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win.

Extra entries: If you'd like to, you may earn extra entries for doing each of the following. Be sure to leave a separate comment for each. You must do the above entry first, then you can do these. (You could have up to 4 chances to win.)
