Firefly Toothbrush Review

2pk Firefly Toothbrush - The Most Popular Tooth Brush Amongst Kids

As a parent there are many things that I teach my son. He’s 4 years old now, so hygiene is one that we’re working on. He can wash up in the bathtub, he can comb his hair, and he can brush his teeth. My husband and I want to make sure that he takes great care of his teeth, so we always supervise in the teethbrushing department. And many times I follow up and brush his teeth even after he’s done it. Yes, I want him to learn to do a good job, but I also want those pearly whites to be at their best.

We have found a great new product that helps kids with brushing their teeth. It teaches them how long to brush there teeth, helping to ensure they get them all nice and clean. The Firefly Toothbrush has a light up timer built right into the brush. Push the button once and it lights up for one minute. So in order for kids to brush the recommended 10 minutes, they can push the button once for the top teeth and again for the bottom teeth.  The Firefly Toothbrushes come in many colors. They also have different varieties like a musical toothbrush and the Barbie & Spiderman ones. Plus there are other characters that your kids will love too.

My son was so excited when he saw the Firefly Toothbrush. He loves to push the button and watch it flash the whole time he’s brushing his teeth. At first it was a bit of an issue, because he couldn’t concentrate on brushing and looking cross-eyed at his toothbrush at the same time. Pretty funny actually. But the toothbrush makes him want to brush his teeth twice a day. We still have to work on using the toothbrush for the whole two minutes when he’s brushing by himself, but we’ll get there. The Firefly Toothbrush is a great way to keep learning.

Old Orchard Cranberry Naturals Review + {Giveaway – Ends 3/7} (CLOSED)

When I hear the name Old Orchard, I think of their delicious juice. I’ve had several different kids of Old Orchard before, and it is always great. It’s always fun trying a new product when you come in having a positive perspective of the company. I also enjoy when I see new great products that I know my family will love and is good for them too.

Old Orchard Cranberry Naturals is the newest in the Old Orchard line of products. There are 6 varieties of the Old Orchard Naturals. They are Cranberry, Cranberry Blueberry, Cranberry Pomegranate, Cranberry Grape, Cranberry Apple, Cranberry Raspberry. The newest juices are naturally sweetened with Truvia, have nearly 2 times the cranberry juice of other “diet” juices, have 40% less sugar than other brands, and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Plus you get all of that for only 70 calories per serving. And the new juice tastes great!

We tried the Old Orchard Cranberry Naturals in the Cranberry and Cranberry Pomegranate varieties. The Cranberry Pomegranate juice was great. It had a sweet juice flavor without being too sweet (my biggest complaint about juices- I most times water them down). I enjoyed the cranberry flavor along with the Pomegranate. It was a good mix. The Cranberry juice tasted like regular cranberry juice, but without being too sweet also.  Plus, as a woman I know the health benefits that Cranberry juice can have for me.

When I have a glass of juice I don’t want it to full of sugar and calories. I just want to be drinking something that is good for me. With Old Orchard Cranberry Naturals I know that I’m not filling up on sugar, plus at only 70 calories in one serving I don’t feel like I’m racking up the calories on just one beverage. My 4 year old son really enjoyed the juices as well. And I much prefer giving him juices that are natural ingredients and low in sugar. Old Orchard Cranberry Naturals are a great new juice that everyone will love.

SKOY Cloth Review + {Giveaway – Ends 3/7} (CLOSED)

Reusable and green is what it’s all about in our modern time. I’m excited about all the products that we have available to us to help in keeping things simpler. Learning to recycle and reuse has been fun for me. I’m not an extremist, but I am a work in progress. I love my reusable shopping bags, even if it does embarrass my husband at the mall. I’m happy to have green cleaning products and chemical-free garden products. I’ve not found the right product, but I would love to switch to cloth table napkins only.

Right in line with my families need is this latest product I reviewed. SKOY Cloth is a paper towel replacement. The earth-friendly cloths are thick yet small enough to work well where a paper towel is normally used. SKOY was the invention of two stay-at-home moms from California who were looking for a product to replace all the used paper towels they were seeing. The SKOY cloth is reusable and machine washable. It can take place of 15 rolls of paper towels! And it can absorb 15 times its own weight.

To use the SKOY cloth you simple dampen it with a little water. Then you have a perfect scrubber for all the dirty jobs around the house. I used mine in place of a sponge I usually clean my countertops with. It has a great texture that makes it thin, yet thick enough and sturdy enough to scrub and get everything clean without much effort. I did have a problem with it staining when I used it on something colored that had spilled on the counter, but I’ll admit that I didn’t wash it right away. It sat on the cloth for a while. I think prompt washing would have helped that problem.

When it’s dirty you can machine wash it or microwave it to keep it germ-free. I washed mine in the washing machine and then stuck it in the dryer. It went through with my other towels. It holds up great in the wash. It seemed to shrink up a little when it dried, but once you get it wet again it’s back to it’s old self.

The SKOY cloth is small and when dry they hardly take up any room in my kitchen at all. I can just keep my little stash of them handy and out of sight when they aren’t in use. Since the SKOY cloth is made of natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp it is 100% biodegradable. You can use it over and over, and when it’s seen its better days you can toss it without worries. It will break down in only 5 weeks. And the colors and inks are chlorine-free; they use a water-based color and ink instead.

SKOY cloths are available in several varieties. You can get a 4-pack of mixed colors with flower print, 4-pack white with flower print, and a few other print options as well. See below to find out where you can buy your own.

Buy It:  SKOY Cloths are available through their website and Amazon.

Win It:  I have one 4-pack of SKOY Cloths for a lucky reader to win.

To Enter: Tell me something that you like or found on their website.  Be sure to include your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win. (If I can’t find an e-mail address in your profile or in your comment, I will draw a new number for the winner.)

Swimming Pools

When we bought our house, one of the things I loved best was the property. It's a good size property for this area. I like our nice front yard with two big pine trees. The backyard is even better with a cement patio, 5 large maple trees and even a full grown cherry tree. It also came complete with wild raspberry vines, a shed, and a place where a pool used to be.

I have always loved swimming. I know that a pool is a lot of work to maintain. But if the pool was still here, I would have been even more thrilled with our house. I have had friends with above ground pools, and they are great. It's so nice in the hot summer to go out and relax in the water. And with kids, they love to play and splash and have a great time in pools. Having kids around pools does scare me a bit, so it's probably a good thing the pool that was on this property is no longer here. But it won't stop me from wishing for one in the middle of July.

Hefty Basics Paper Plates Review + {Giveaway – Ends 3/7} (CLOSED)

Love the convenience of disposable plates, but hate the waste? I know that’s who I feel. I have to hand wash our dishes each and every day. Let me tell you, that gets old after a while. Some days I just want to forget all the dishes and use disposable plates all the time. But, I know that can be really wasteful, so I refrain and stick my hands back into the suds.

Hefty, who is already well known for their disposable products, is now giving us better options. Enter the Hefty Basics Paper Plates. These are a sturdy, disposable plate that is better for the environment. The price is still great, but now the plates are biodegradable in-home composting and free of inks, dyes and coatings.

Hefty sent me the new Hefty Basics Paper Plates in both their sizes. The have a large dinner plate that is 10-1/4” and the other a bit smaller at 8-5/8”. We used the 45 pack of 8-5/8” plates for our Super Bowl party. We ordered pizza for our guests and they brought along desserts and snacks. The plates held up really went for our food. And the clean up was a snap. Their natural brown color lends them to any theme, which is nice.

I can’t wait until spring, so we can try putting the plates in our compost pile. I was excited when I saw they are great for that. We’ll put them in with our other compost and see what happens. Not only do I not have to wash them when we’re done, but they don’t even have to take up room in my garbage can. I think that’s wonderful!

Right now when you “like” Hefty Basics on Facebook, you are helping to plant tress. They have partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 10,000 trees across the US. For every 10 “like”s they get, they will plant a tree. So, help them out and become a Hefty fan on Facebook now.

Buy It:  Hefty Basics Paper Plates are available in stores now.

Hansen Wholesale has Fireplace Gas Logs

With all the bad weather we've had this winter. I see the value in having a great fireplace with Gas Logs. We had a few days full of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. We were stuck in the house for a few days, but fortunately it didn't turn into an ice storm like it could have. We were already prepared for the worst with our flashlights and battery radios at the ready. If we'd lost electricity, the house would be been very cold with the low temperatures. And I'm sure we'd have been wishing for a nice warm fireplace.

Hansen Wholesale is an online store that knows all about fireplaces and gas logs. You can learn more with their Gas Log FAQs. The brand they carry is R. H. Peterson Real Fyre Gas Logs. You get get Vented Gas Logs or Ventless Gas Logs from Hansen Wholesale, and you can even find Outdoor Gas Logs there as well. They have been selling them on the internet since 1994. Right now you can take advantage of their great offer: $75 additional discount plus no tax and free shipping (free shipping for complete gas log sets under 36" in the continental US).

Beecology Review

We’re all hearing and learning about natural products being so much better for our bodies. Beecology is a company that is using natural products to make things that we use every day. From bees wax, honey, and other ingredients, they produce shampoo, condition, lotion and more. It all starts with the bees.

I got to try a variety of products from Beecology. The Natural Honey and Botanical Sulfate-Free Shampoo made my hair soft and manageable. The Repair Your Hair Naturally Conditioner felt great on my hair. I especially enjoyed the Original Honey Hand & Body Cream. It was creamy and soothing without being too thick like some lotions. I liked that it rubbed into my skin easily and left it feeling moisturized for a long time afterwards.

Beecology is located in Ohio, as am I. I love that I can find products that are from my state. If you’re looking for natural care products, look no farther. See below how to purchase (they are even branching into stores locally).

Buy It:  You can purchase Beecology on their website (and get 30% off your first order with them). You can also find Beecology in Whole Foods Market in NE Ohio (and coming soon near you).

Bob the Builder: The Golden Hammer--The Movie

Bob the Builder begins a pirate adventure in Bob the Builder: The Golden Hammer – The Movie. In this full-length movie, you can join Bob and his Can-Do Crew as they learn about the legend of Pirate Brickbeard’s Golden Hammer.

While working on building projects around their town, Bob and his crew learn of this pirate legend. They are determined to find the location of a treasure. You will find this DVD to be full of adventure and mysteries. And of course, Bob the Builder and his crew do what they do best – build.

My son really likes Bob the Builder. And he’s intrigued by adventures, so this movie was great for him. It has fun characters that he’s familiar with, but the story is new and exciting. First Juice Review

First Juice Organic Fruit & Veggie Variety Pack, 32-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)

First Juice is an organic fruit and vegetable juice beverage specifically with kids in mind. It is made from organic produce and much lower in sugar than most juice products. They have 4 varieties of juice available: apple & carrot, banana & carrot, blueberry & purple carrot, and peach & purple carrot. You can purchase the juice in 8 oz reusable containers that have a no-spill top and a 32 oz. bottle. Both containers are BPA-free and recyclable. The smaller one is great for on-the-go and the larger works for home use and refills.

We got to sample the apple, banana, and blueberry drinks. My son enjoyed these. And I felt really good about giving my child something that was good for him. I tried all by the banana one. (I’m not a fan of banana in any juice type drinks.) They we pretty flavorful but without the overly sweet flavor that you get from most fruit juices. I think the vegetables in them balance the sweetness.

First Juice was recently acquired by Lifeway Foods, Inc. They are the leading US supplier of healthy Kefir beverages. They are happy to have a product that caters to children now. And this is a new step into the non-dairy-based health beverages for the company. You and your children will enjoy these juices. And they are very healthy, so you’ll be doing something great for your body and your kids’ bodies as well.

Buy It:  First Juice is available at more than 300 Babies R Us and Toys R Us store and now also at Whole Foods Market, Ralphs, Diapers.com and Amazon.com.

Ceiling Fans from Hansen Wholesale

Do you have ceiling fans in your home? As a kid I grew up in a old farmhouse that my parents had remodeled. They installed a Ceiling Fan in our living room downstairs and eventually in their downstairs bedroom. But, let me tell you, the two upstairs bedrooms got awfully hot in the summer with no air conditioning and no ceiling fans. Now in the house we live in, our rooms almost all have Ceiling Fans. They were here when we bought the house almost 10 years ago. But to be honest, it's one of my favorite features. They are so great to cool the rooms in the summer, and sleeping with a fan running is so much better in those hot days of summer.

When looking around you will Find out who makes the Best Ceiling Fans here! They have so many great brands, such as, Hunter ceiling fans and Minka Aire ceiling fans. We just have simple, boring ceiling fans in our house, but it would be great to replace them with some of the neat, stylish fans that you can get from Hansen Wholesale Ceiling Fans selection. You'll be sure to find a fan to update the look of any room in your house.

Barney learns all about taking care of a puppy and lions and cake don’t mix with Kipper. The episodes include: Barney “Pets,” Bob the Builder “Scruffy on Guard,” Thomas & Friends “Thomas and the Golden Eagle,” Fireman Sam “Baa Baa Baby” and Kipper in “Cakes and Tails.”

Zachariah enjoyed this DVD full of talk of animals. Next to things that go “vroom” his next love is probably animals. This was a fun DVD, and he loves having episodes with all his favorite characters. The DVD is geared toward children ages 2-5 and runs about 53 minutes long.

Shaun the Sheep: Season One Gift Set Review

Shaun the Sheep: Season 1

Shaun the Sheep
is the funniest sheep I’ve every known. His silence doesn’t keep him from being witty. Shaun the Sheep is made by the creators of Wallace & Gromit and has the same fun animation. Shaun and the other barnyard animals are always trying to get out of on pickle or another. You won’t miss a moment of their action in the Shaun the Sheep: Season One Gift Set. Shaun the Sheep can be in 5 minute shorts on the Disney Channel. You will only be able to see full-length episodes on DVD.

The Shaun the Sheep: Season One Gift Set contains the entire first season of 40 episodes on 2 DVDs. You will be in on all the action with Shaun, Shirley, Bitzer, Timmy and the rest of the barnyard gang. You will also enjoy many bonus features on the DVD set, including “Sing-Along With Shaun,” “The Mini-Making of Shaun” featurette, “Sheep Shearing” Game, “Whack-A-Pig” Game, “Building A Pig” featurette, “Meet The Animals” video, Timmy Time Sneak Peek: “Timmy’s Tune #1” video.

My son and I both enjoy Shaun the Sheep. It’s cute for kids, but adults can enjoy the comedy on a different level. This DVD Set is for fans of all ages from 2-60. And the total runtime is about 258 minutes. You’ll have hours of fun with this set with your whole family.

Upcoming CSN review

I am excited to be working with CSN again soon. They have so many great products to choose from, so I'm sure I'll have fun looking for something.  With spring just around the corner their backyard swing sets are very appealing. They have so many great ones to choose from.  Having a playset in the backyard is very convenient. My son just mentioned the other day that he can't wait for the snow to melt so he can swing.

What do you like to shop for with CSN?

*I will be receiving a gift code to do my review. That is all.*

Juppy Baby Walker Review + {Giveaway - Ends 2/28} (CLOSED)

Have you heard of the Juppy? I first heard the name a year or so ago. I was intrigued by it. It’s a baby walker that you hold the baby in. It’s basically an easy way to help your baby learn to walk without the strain on your back from hunching over them to hold their tiny little hands while they practice for hours.

Here are some great features of the Juppy Baby Walker:

*Help your baby walk sooner while minimizing dangerous falls
*Easy to use anywhere- at the beach, the yard, or the park
*Available for boys and girls- one size fits all
*Adjustable straps for the best fit and height of parent
*Fits in diaper bag or purse- easily transportable
*Safe and comfortable design with zip-up back and padded vest
*Made from high quality, durable fabric
*Easy to clean- machine or hand washable

We put my 7 month old nephew, Easton, into our Juppy. Easton is not really interested too much in standing/walking yet (he’s too busy trying to figure out this crawling business he’s heard so much about). But when we put him in the Juppy, his little feet started to walk in the right motion. The Juppy easily goes on the baby and zips up in front. The fabric is strong and it holds the baby well. The straps are sturdy and easy for a parent to hold. My sister was easily able to stand up straight and let Easton strut his stuff. He had fun taking tiny little steps across the room. And I have a feeling that with more use of the Juppy, he’ll figure out this walking thing and be off running before we know it. You can see how it worked for Easton below (and my son, Zachariah, was cheering him on with a blanket).

The Juppy Baby Walker is great because it’s so compact. It’s completely made of cloth fabric, so it’s easy to fold up small and fit inside the pouch that comes with it. The pouch is small and can slip right into the side of a diaper bag or purse for quick access wherever you want to take it. You won’t have to worry about hauling large equipment with this one.

We were impressed with the Juppy Baby Walker, and I think it will become a bit “must have” baby item. They come in pink or blue, so it will suit boys and girls. It’s something the every baby can use. The size fits all babies old enough to try walking. And since babies eventually want to walk (as much as us mothers would love to keep them tiny), I think this would be a fun, unique gift for a baby shower.

You can find out more about the Juppy Baby Walker on their website. It has many pictures of families teaching their kids to walk with the Juppy. You can also connect with Juppy on Twitter and Facebook. (They often list blogs where they are giving away Juppies, so you’ll want to check that out.) And they are offering one of my readers their very own Juppy, you can find out how to enter below.
