Do you have the cutest last-minute tax deduction?

My friend is due with her first baby any day/minute now. She's actually over-due by a week. They are giving her another day to go into labor by herself, then her little bundle will be served his eviction notice. I know she's ready to have him. I can't wait to meet him. And having him right at the end of the year will ensure he'll be a great tax deduction when tax time comes around.

Do you have your own last-minute tax deduction? Or maybe you know someone else who does (or will very soon)?

Well, thanks to Turbo-Tax, one of these last-minute deductions will win their parents a bundle too. Turbo-Tax is the #1 rated best selling tax preparation software. They are searching for America's Cutest Last-Minute Tax Deductions. And they are offering the parents of a lucky baby born in December the chance to win $5,000.

To enter, parents or legal guardians should submit a photo of their baby born between Dec. 1-31, to www.cutesttaxdeduction.com. The deadline for submissions is January 7, 2010. Judges will select 10 finalists, and America will determine America's Cutest Last-Minute Tax Deduction and the $5,000 grand prize winner!

Further details, rules and eligibility are available at www.CutestTaxDeduction.com. You can follow @TurboTax on Twitter (#TTbaby) or visit TaxBreak, the new TurboTax blog for updates.

Yoplait Kids Less Sugar Yogurt Review & {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

Thanks to MyBlogSpark, we got to try Yoplait Kids Yogurt. We've bought Yoplait Kids for years. My son, Zachariah, used to pick out the Dora and Diego kinds they had. Apparently now he's too old for that, because he only even chooses the Trix variety.

It doesn't matter to me what he chooses. I know that yogurt is good for him and a great addition to his lunches. Plus Yoplait Kids is a good source of vitamin D. Since my son doesn't drink much milk, it's a fun way to make sure he's getting that good stuff he needs.

From Yoplait:
Are you searching for a snack for the kids that tastes good and is good for them? Yoplait Kids Yogurt is the perfect solution with 25% less sugar than the leading kids' yogurt. With its thick and creamy texture that will hug your little ones spoon, you won't have to worry about a sticky mess to clean up afterwards. It also contains no artificial sweeteners or flavors, so you can feel good about serving it to your kids.

One thing that makes me hesitate about buying yogurt is the price. It is terribly expensive. But I've found a way to but it now and then and still make it affordable. I often see coupons for Yoplait to use. And they even have a printable coupon on their website. When I take a coupon and wait until the yogurt goes on sale, it's pretty affordable...especially when I use it at a store that doubles coupons.

To make it even more affordable, I'm giving away 2 Yoplait Less Sugar, More Fun prize packs to you. The prize pack includes a coupon* for any of the Yoplait Kids yogurt products along with a travel cooler (to take your yogurt on-the-go), a fun spoon that changes colors in warm water, a reusable place mat with games to keep the kids happy while snacking, and a fuzzy tangle puzzle for some after-snack fun. All this from Yoplait and MyBlogSpark.

*This coupon offer for a free six pack of Yoplait Kids yogurt is NOT valid in some states, including Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota and Tennessee.

Buy It: Yoplait Kids Yogurt is available in grocery stores everywhere.

Win It: I have two (2) Yoplait Less Sugar, More Fun prize packs to give to you lucky readers. (See description above.)

Families of the World DVD Review & {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

As a mother and an educator I find value in products that help children learn new things. The Families of the World DVDs do just that. They are great videos that children will enjoy watching. And the best thing is they will learn so many things about families in other cultures and countries.

We got the opportunity to review the Families of Guatemala, Families of Panama, and More Families of Mexico DVDs. These three new DVDs follow the family life of families in their culture. Each features two children from different places or walks of life in their particular country.

These DVDs are great for teachers and librarians to use for young students. They are very informative and fun. I've always enjoyed learning about other cultures and countries. And it's even neater to see if from a child's perspective.

I can see these being a great resource for schools to incorporate into their curriculum. They would also be good for homeschoolers. They are most appropriate for grade school children, but my 3 year old likes them well enough. They don't keep his attention the whole time, but he does ask to watch them from time to time.

Buy It: Families of Guatemala, Families of Panama, and More Families of Mexico on DVD plus 20 other "Families of..." DVDs are available from their website www.familiesoftheworld.com or by calling 1-800-765-5885.

Win It: I have one (1) copy each of Families of Guatemala, Families of Panama, and More Families of Mexico DVD to give to three (3) of you lucky readers.

To Enter: Go to their website and tell me another DVD (not listed here) you'd be interested in viewing. Be sure to include your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win. (If I can't find an e-mail or don't already have it, I will draw a new number for the winner.)

Extra Entries: If you'd like to, you may earn extra entries for doing each of the following. Be sure to leave a separate comment for each. You must do the above (main) entry first, then you can do these others.

Men's Christmas Gifts

Men can be so hard to buy for. I never know what to get the men in my family for Christmas.

My husband I can usually figured out. And he's pretty good about either picking things out or letting me know some things he could use or would like. Or when I'm not spending a lot I'll find things like T-shirts, underwear, socks, etc. that he can use.

The problem comes when I have to buy for my brothers-in-law. None of them ever have ideas for me. So in the last few years I have gotten them underwear (they all wear boxers or boxer briefs). I just look for something nice in the stores that I think they would use. I did well last year, so I might go that route again.

Did you know that you can get underwear (of all kinds) from Zappos.com? I knew they carried shoes, but otherwise I have no idea what they carried. But I did find that a nice men's Christmas gift could be the Diesel Underwear from Zappos.

What ideas do you have for men for Christmas?

Art House DVD Review & {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

A brand new children's DVD series teaching children to draw launches it's first title Art House Volume 1: Basic Shapes and Animals. This is a great DVD to get young children started with an interest in Art!

Art House sets out to teach children the fundamentals of drawing. From an Arts graduate and an elementary school teacher, this DVD is for children ages 3 and up to learn to draw using basic shapes to draw anything. "Developing artistic skills at an early age has proven to promote problem solving, communication, curiosity and perspective."

With easy to follow instructions, simple shapes, and fun pictures, your child can figure out how to draw fish, dogs, monkeys, birds, dinosaurs and more. The art class sessions are separated by animated musical scenes too.

I was surprised at how much my 3 year old son likes this DVD. He was quite interested in the instruction and always wants to try his hand at drawing some new things too. It's also sparked his interest in drawing and creating on his own.

Buy It: Art House Volume 1: Basic Shapes and Animals is available starting November 17th at www.InTheArtHouse.com and www.amazon.com.

Win It: I have one (1) copy of Art House Volume 1: Basic Shapes and Animals DVD to give to one of you lucky readers.

To Enter: Let me know who in your life would enjoy this DVD and why. Be sure to include your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win. (If I can't find an e-mail or don't already have it, I will draw a new number for the winner.)

Pretty Please Press Children's Books Review & {Giveaway}

Every child needs someone to ready to them. Every child needs some great books. I truly believe this. I am an educator and a lover of books. I especially love children's books.

I received four great books from Pretty Please Press recently. "Bella Basset Ballerina," "The Scritchy Little Twitchell Sisters," "Kick Block Punch," and "Pynx."

"Bella Basset Ballerina" is about a dog who doesn't know her place in life. She was not created to be a ballerina dog, but she's not about to let that stop her.

"The Scritchy Little Twitchell Sisters" can be summarized in about two words...sibling rivalry. Two sisters cannot get along no matter what their parents try, so when the chance to profit off their "show" of dis-affection things change.

For kids who are into Karate and other things, "Kick Block Punch" is perfect for them. A little boy wants to earn his black belt now, but he soon learns that good things come to those who practice and wait.

"Pynx" is a unique story about a strange creature that finds itself in a new world. It just can't fit in and the other creatures want to drive it away. The Pynx has yet to prove it's worth.

These books were all really fun to read. My favorite was "The Scritchy Little Twitchell Sisters". I can probably relate so well to this since I'm the oldest of three sisters myself. There were many times we didn't get along, but it was nothing compared to the Twitchell Sisters. They are serious trouble! And I'm glad for a company who cares about children and them learning. Reading to your kids is so very important!

From the company:
Pretty Please Press was created with the idea that reading to your children will help establish good communication between parents and children. Many education and parenting experts stress that reading to or with children is one of the most important things parents can do to make sure kids stay on the right track. Reading together during elementary school years helps parents and children bond as a family. Opening up lines of communication with kids early in life will encourage them to talk to you later, when big “character issues” arise. In addition, we provide free educational downloads including Vocabulary Building Cards, Concept Building Cards, and Character Building Lesson Plans.

Buy It: Pretty Please Books are available on their website at a 20% discount. They also have a buy 3 books, get 1 free offer available there. This offer will expire on Dec. 31, 2009.

Win It: I have one (1) copy of each book, "Bella Basset Ballerina," "The Scritchy Little Twitchell Sisters," "Kick Block Punch," and "Pynx", to give to one of you lucky readers.

To Enter: Go to Pretty Please Press and let me know which book you like best. Be sure to include your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win. (If I can't find an e-mail or don't already have it, I will draw a new number for the winner.)

Five For Fighting "Slice" CD Review

John Ondrasik, under the band name Five for Fighting, has released a new album "Slice". Filled with his personal songs and songs that "invoke the human spirit and make an emotional connection", this is a great new album.

I really enjoyed his music, and I believe my favorite was the album title song "Slice". The slow, thoughtful songs have such a great message. The other songs on the album include: "Note to the Unknown Solider", "Tuesday", "Chances", "This Dance", Above the Timberline", "Transfer", "Hope", "Story of Your Life", "Love Can't Change the Weather", and "Augie Nieto".

Five for Fighting is well known for songs such as "Superman" and "100 Years". As a devoted husband and father, John's oldest child made a debut in one of his videos too.
