PlainTales First Tales & PlainTales Explorers CD Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

In March Plain Tales released two brand new sets of stories for children on CD. PlainTales First Tales and PlainTales Explorers.

We truly enjoyed having these CDs in the car and in the house. They made for a really quiet car ride! And the stories are fun and entertaining.

We previewed "The Gingerbread Boy and Other First Tales" from the PlainTales First Tales collection. It has sores of the Gingerbread Boy, the Three Billy Goats Gruff, the Princess & the Frog, the Little Red Hen, and the Bremen Town Musicians. The runtime for this CD is 48 minutes. Having several different stories is just right for short trips. We can usually hear one story getting to a place.

The other CD from the PlainTales First Tales collection is "Paul Bunyan and Other American Tall Tales". It features Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill and Davy Crockett. The runtime for this one is 60 minutes.

We also previewed on of the CD's from the PlainTales Explorers collection: "Animal Tales: Raccoon, Bear and Coyote." This is about fictional animals trying to survive. The stories are a bit longer and don't always hold my 3 year old's attention as much, but he still loves listening to the stories while he plays. It runs about 48 minutes.

The last CD is "Johnny Appleseed and Other American legends" in the PlainTales Explorers collection. It tells stories about Johnny Appleseed, as well as Sacagawea, and John Muir. The runtime is 67 minutes.

PlainTales has other CD collections of stories. They are available on their website. The CD's are recommended for ages 5-10. We found that the shorter stories (especially the PlainTales First Tales "Gingerbread Boy and Other First Tales CD) were perfect for my 3 year old.

I so didn't remember to follow the instructions. I think my kids would like any of them, but esp. the Beatrix Potter one.

I think the First Tales for us, too, especially since you said they were shorter for shorter attetion spans. I haven't tried stories on CD for Katy yet, so I'd be curious to see what she thought of them. Fun!

and we subscribe, of course!

I think lots of those would be great, but "Just So Stories" would probably be a big hit. I love the idea of switching to stories in the car for some of our trips.

Do we get a second entry every time if we subscribe? Or is it just for the one time we sign up? Because you're on my Google reader baby! (But you were before today.)
