Thomas & Friends: Hero of the Rails The Movie DVD Review & {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

Newly released on DVD from Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment, Thomas is appearing in a new full-length movie, Thomas & Friends: Hero of the Rails. See all your old engine friends, meet new friends, and join the fun adventure in this first CGI-animated movie, Thomas & Friends: Hero of the Rails.

When Thomas meets an old run-down train, he gets help from his friends to rebuild the train into a useful engine. His new friend, Hiro, is so thankful for the new friendships, but there is one train in their way. Will Thomas and his friends be able to help Hiro, or will a grumpy engine stall their progress? Thomas and his friends will work together to do all they can.

I'm sure you've already seen about this new DVD in TV advertisements and other places. New Thomas movies are something to get excited about.

Aetrex Sandalistas Review

For even the busiest of mothers, we need something that will hold us up for the "go go go" of life. A good pair of shoes will help us get through the busy days.
Aetrex shoes are made with that in mind. Whether for people with foot problems, someone needing a little support, or mothers chasing after their kids, we all need great shoes. And even better, we need good looking shoes.

This summer I got to try a cute pair of "sandalistas" from Aetrex. You can view there whole line here. I tried The Amalie Sandalista in Moss Nubuck, which is a light shade of blue. They are cute sandals and something I can wear anywhere. The sizes ran true and fit my foot well. The only problem I ran into was the straps. They are adjustable, but my feet seem to be between sizes. That meant they were either a little too big or squeezing my feet. But I don't blame the manufacturers for that, it's hard to custom fit everyone's individual feet.

The Sandalista line from Aetrex all include many features. They have a removable PU footbed with suede & memory foam top cover. This makes it very comfortable to walk on. It had a soft feel to my foot, and it is also giving my foot lots of soft cushion. And the removable footbed is for the Patented Mozaic Customization Technology. They also have built-in Lynco support.

The Patented Mozaic Customization Technology is one of the neatest things I've seen for shoes. When you take the removable liner out of the shoe, on the back you will see the Mozaic gel plugs. They are strategically placed for comfort, but you can remove the pads where you have pressure or pain in your foot. This allows for each shoe to be customized to your foot.

For more about the Mozaic Customization, check out their website. They offer it in other shoes as well as the Sandalistas.

Aetrex also makes many other types of shoes that are fashionable and designed for comfort. I will pass on fashion in favor of comfort most times, but when you can have both why not? They have Men's shoes, Women's shoes, Orthotics, and even Copper socks. Go check out all they have to offer.

Buy It: You can get Aetrex shoes through Foot.com or search their website for store near you.

Football Guys Review & {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

Football season has begun!

Football Guys. The name is simple. But it does describe the product perfectly. In fact when we first got our Football Guys and opened them up, my son got quite excited and said "Mom, they're football guys." I had not told him what they were called before that. It's just what made sense to my 3 year old.

We were happy to try the
Sports Guys action figures from Kaskey Kids. They carry Football Guys, College Football Guys, Hockey Guys, Baseball Guys, and Soccer Guys & Girls. A simple but effective toy is what they were aiming for. These toys lack the bells and whistles that other toy makers think are necessary. I find this to be the thing I love about the Football Guys.

My son doesn't need loud music or sounds. He doesn't need electronics either. What he does need is his imagination. Kaskey Kids knows that. That's exactly what this toy gives children. It gives them free play. Free play encourages imagination, creativity, and fosters learning.

My son is fascinated with football. I know he gets that from us. My husband and I love watching college and professional football. And we love to cheer on our favorite teams. Kaskey Kids also makes Football Guys in a College Football line. I wish I would have paid attention before we ordered ours, because living in Ohio we are huge Ohio State Buckeye fans. (If you look closely, you can see my son wearing his Ohio State t-shirt in the photos.) And one of the College Football Guys options is Ohio State. The others include The University of Michigan (our biggest rivals), The University of Georgia, Florida, Penn State, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, The University of Texas, The University of Illinois, and LSU.

Our Football Guys set included Red vs. Black, 26 2 " players, 1 referee, 2 goalposts, 24"x36" washable felt field, and a 10"x6"x5" stackable container with attached lid and handle. The players are in various poses for different football plays. It even includes and instruction and playbook that tells about the real game of football. It's very informative and complete with photos of the Football Guys set up in plays.

As a mom one of my favorite features is the container that holds all the little guys, plus the goal posts, and when folded right the field. I always love toys that can be easily picked up and put away. Plus you're keeping the whole set together. The container is reusable and light to carry, we've taken it out of the house several times already. And you have to appreciate that the felt playing field is washable too.

The Sports Guys sets make great gifts for the little sports lovers in your life. It's easy to please anyone with their variety of sports available. Or they also carry Mini Packs for someone who just wants a smaller gift/set to start with or add to their collection.

They are geared towards children ages 3-8.

Buy It: All of the Sports Guys are available online from Kaskey Kids website. When you purchase something for yourself or the budding sports star in your life, be sure to enter the promo code "GoGuys" for a 10% discount for my awesome readers.

Win It: The wonderful people at Kaskey Kids are giving one (1) of my readers a Sports Guy set of their choice.

To Enter: THIS IS MANDATORY: Visit the Kaskey Kids website, tell me which Sports Guy set you would choose and who would it be for. You must also leave your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win.

Barney: Sharing is Caring DVD Review & {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

As parents we are constantly reminding our children to share with others. It's a lesson that they learn early in life. And hopefully, if we're doing our job right, they will quickly pick it up. Sharing is just part of life. We learn it young, and we never stop doing it. Geesh, we as mothers/fathers/grandparents share with our children/grandchildren. Not a day goes by that I don't share a sip of my drink or a bite of my ...something ...anything with my child. So, a new Barney DVD Barney: Sharing is Caring is an appropriate lesson for all children.

The friends of Barney decide to help with a toy drive. They learn that by donating their old toys they don't use anymore, they are helping someone else. Sharing really is caring when they see the smiles their old things can bring to other kids' faces.

My son loved this DVD. He usually appreciates Barney videos, but this one struck a cord. Or all the purple, singing, and dancing has seeped into his little head. Ha! No, seriously, he requested this one a lot. And he was quick to tell me about what he learned. Of course sharing is big in our family and I always make sure he does that, so he was very perceptive to that in the Barney: Sharing is Caring DVD. He informed me, "Sharing makes people feel better." Cute kid, huh!

I think your children, whether already Barney fans or not, will enjoy this fun DVD. Not only will they learn an important life lesson, but they can learn the songs and sing and dance along.

And don't forget to have your pint-sized Barney fan check out the www.barney.com website. You can find music, videos, games, resources for parents and more.

This DVD is targeted at children 2-5 years old. It runs about 51 minutes. And there are 2 games on the DVD. (This is becoming a favorite of my son's...playing games on the DVDs.)

Buy It: The Barney: Sharing is Caring DVD is available in stores now as well as online too.

Win It: I have two (2) copies of Barney: Sharing is Caring for you to win.

To enter: Tell me your children/grandchildren share by leaving a comment here. You must also leave your e-mail address, so I can contact you when you win.

Mabel's Labels Review

I recently had the chance to review a set of labels from Mabel's Labels. I love the motto "labels for the stuff kids lose!" Mabel's Labels is a great company that was started by moms and their product focus is for moms. After losing too many children's items themselves, they went in search of labels that would withstand the test of moms and time.

We got to try their Ultimate Back-To-School Combo. This deal is only available for a limited time, so be sure to take advantage of it now. The Ultimate Back-To-School Combo is $39.00 for a pack of 50 Tag-Mates, 40 Skinny-Minis, 16 Shoe Labels, 2 NEW Teeny Tags. This particular offer is only available through Sept. 25th.

The Tag-Mate labels are for the inside of clothing labels. I love the idea of this, because I had writing on clothes. These are especially handy for kids in daycare, preschool, school, etc, so they won't lose their clothing if it needed to be changed for some reason. The Tag-Mate labels are washable, so you don't have to worry about replacing them on the clothing. WONDERFUL! The only problem I see with these is we have several t-shirts that don't have labels on them. Some clothing companies have gone to label-free, in this case I'm not sure where to put the Tag-Mate.

The Skinny-Mini labels are more versatile. They can be used on bottles, sippy cups, pencils, toys, and many more things. They are dishwasher and microwave safe! These are small enough to fit on all the little things that your kids might lose.

Shoe labels are easy to use, and you won't have to worry about leaving a shoe behind somewhere. The Shoe Labels come with detailed instructions on how to apply them. You have to put a clear label (included) over top the label, but it's simple and easy to do. I think they're also great for restaurant play places and parks. You won't have to worry about your child mixing up their shoes with someone else's.

The Teeny Tags are nice little tags for backpacks, diaper bags and more. On their website, they even suggest these little tags for identification for runners and other athletes.

Fire truck

We liked all our labels and tags. They are great with their unique colors and icons. I let Zachariah choose the colors/icon he wanted, so we got the nature lover colors and the fire truck icon with his first and last name. I love this unique feature on these labels. Not only can you get it customized with your name, nickname, phone number, or whatever, but you can also get the image (from their list) that you want. When my son sees his labels with his name and icon, he'll know for sure they're his. And for younger children they can easily identify their unique icon and color.
Mabel's Labels has other types of labels too. There are stationery products...like Mama cards. And household labels like cord control. I think my husband could use those at work (he works with computers). And Mabel's Labels also carries Kid Safety Products for traveling with children and children with allergies and other medical concerns - Allergy Alerts & My 411 Wristbands.

There are so many uses for Mabel's Labels. I'm sure that you'll find them fitting into your home quite nicely.

Buy It: Check out the Mabel's Labels website for all their pricing and purchasing options. They also have a promotion going on from Aug. 15 - Sept. 15 that if you spend $80, you will received a code for $25 to Mabel's Labels. Details can be found here.

"There's More to Life Than the Corner Office" Book Review & {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

"The corner office has become symbolic of high performance and success," says author and former CEO Lamar Smith. "It's an office that men and women all over the world strive to occupy. The CEO is the modern equivalent of royalty and the corner office is the 'throne room.'"

"The corner office" is the epitome of American business success. I've seen it in my life so many times. And even when it's not in the business world, people in our society are always striving for bigger and better. We really do want to "keep up with the Joneses," even if we're afraid to admit it.

I'm not a business woman (and probably never will be), but the concept of striving for the best is not lost on me. Even as a stay at home mom, I look at other people and think they've got it more pulled together...or they have something better than me...or they are a better person than me. My goals always get higher and higher and harder to reach.

And the question for some business people is are they willing to do what it takes to get to the top? If so it will probably mean hurting people and relationships along the way. I have seen this happen to people I know, and I'm sure you have too.

The book "There's More to Life Than the Corner Office" by Lamar Smith touches on these very issues. He tells us a story of a business man who figured out how to achieve all he wanted. Instead of hoarding his wisdom, the astute businessman chooses young men to pass along to. He invest his time into them to help them realize what the most important things in life are.

I love the way this book is written. Sure it's characters are businessmen, but the book appeals to everyone. The lessons in the story are pertinent to people in all walks of life. And the story is one that appeals to everyone. I enjoyed the storytelling, and I couldn't put this book down. (I read it in about an hour and a half to two hours.)

"There's More to Life Than the Corner Office" is a great read for anyone you know. And with Christmas coming up, I think it would be a wonderful gift or stocking stuffer for especially the businessperson in your life.

Buy It: "There's More to Life Than the Corner Office" by Lamar Smith is available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Win It: I have one (1) copy of this book to giveaway to my readers. See how to enter below.

To enter: Visit the book website and comment about it. (Whatever you want to say about the book or website or author.) As always be sure to add your e-mail address with your entry, so I can contact you when you win.

Labou The Movie DVD & Puppet Making Review + {Giveavay}

I recently had the chance to review the "Labou" movie. I want to say it's a "children's movie", but I don't believe that's entirely true. This is a great movie for the whole family. It's wholesome and clean with a fun story line and lots of adventure.

In the movie "LABOU" three fun loving friends who head out on an adventure together. These kids don't know what they are getting into when the go looking for a lost pirate ship in the Louisiana bayou. In the midst of everything going on- meeting a pirate (or maybe he's not really), running from bad men, and trying to make things right for a new friend- they meet a hidden swap creature who is Labou. Labou is friendly, nice, and might just be the answer to all the problems they've discovered.

This was a wonderful movie. We enjoyed the story unfolding and the fun characters and creatures we saw along the way. My son enjoyed the swap creatures, Labou. And I thought the whole movie is great for people of all ages.

Buy It: You can find this video on various places online. Click some of these links to get one for yourself. You're family will thank you.

You also need to check out their website LabouDVD.com. It tells more about the movie. While you're there be sure to click on the LabouStuff.com link. They have lots of fun things to purchase and even a section with fun free activities for your kids.

Our favorite thing was the Puppet Making Kit. There is a printout, a video, and other things to help your kids make their own puppet. The people behind Labou have been educating children in the art of puppetry. (Which I think is great, because I did puppetry through church when I was young.) They have created a workshop "Hollywood and the Art of Puppetry" that has traveled all over and worked with organizations and schools.

So my son and I printed out the Labou puppet kit and made our own Labou puppet. It was a lot of fun, and my son loves his Labou puppet.

Win It: Does Labou look like something your kids will love? I hope so. The great people from Intelligent Life Media sent me a Labou hat and t-shirt to give away to one of you lucky ones. I wish I could keep it for my son, but I'll be nice and let one of you win both of these.

To enter: Visit LabouDVD.com or Laboustuff.com and tell me something neat you saw there or something you learned there in your comment. (If you don't do this, your comment will be deleted.) As always be sure to add your e-mail address with your entry, so I can contact you when you win.
