“Life Promises for Success” by Jim Tressel Book Review

People want success in life. It’s just part of our makeup. “Life Promises for Success” by Jim Tressel is a little book of encouragement for every day life.

Jim Tressel had many successes in his career at Ohio State as the head football coach. (I know he recently left, but I still have a lot of respect for him.) Tressel is also author of “The Winner’s Manual” about his coaching successes. This book Life Promises for Success shares some scripture, quotes and words of wisdom. Tressel uses this to inspire and uplift others.

Life Promises for Success is a great book to pass along for graduates, fathers, friends and more. It’s a small little book that you can pick up when you need a little uplifting. It has simple short entries that are meant to be read quickly. I think this was a great Father’s Day gift for my dad (a big Ohio State fan too)! And I’m sure there are many people (especially men) who will enjoy this book. You can find Life Promises for Success by Jim Tressel at bookstores and online too.

And there is a 2 week meal planner using the Zone 1-2-3 Foods for both men and women. (I had to compare, men need more calories, so they incorporated that in the plan.) And best of all there is a booklet with everything you need to know about the plan and making it work for you. Plus there are great recipes in there.

The food is good. I tried many different things. I found all the bread products to be delicious. You won’t even know that you’re eating “diet” food. The cookies were a bit different with an interesting crunch. But they weren’t bad if you’re dieting and really want a cookie, they will hit the spot. Plus you can have more than one. :) The second week of food had some of the same things and some new things too. It was nice to have some new treats and snacks. And you can see the yummy salad I created with the Zone croutons on top.

I enjoyed this book by Lori Foster. I have not read any of her other books before. This was a fast read once I got started. The story flows fast, and I just couldn't wait to see what happened.

I should add that this book is quite steamy with a lot of sexual tension and more. So it might not be your cup of tea if you’re not into that sort of reading.

Kushyfoot Review

 
As women, we do like to look good. And a good pair of shoes can make an outfit. But when buying cute shoes, we don’t always go for comfort and ease. Kushyfoot is a company that is trying to help that cause.

Kushyfoot carries products that protect your feet from shoes. They have foot covers in regular, low cut, super ultra low cut, and lace. They also carry toe covers- that are like cute little socks but just to cover your toes, trouser & knee highs, athletic socks, tights, shoe cushions, men’s socks, and flats to go. They have a little of everything when it comes to foot comfort.

I got to try the Kushyfoot Ultra Low Cut Sock. These are designed to give a little extra comfort even in the sleekest shoes. I can wear these with my dressiest pair of high heals. They help keep my feet from blisters without compromising my style. I like that I can still wear these with my nice dressy heals. I’m usually all for comfort with shoes, but sometimes I need to dress up a bit. I even have large feet, and this fits me great. They say it will always fit a smaller foot too. And it’s great having a product that keeps me comfortable even when I’m not wearing my tennis shoes (aka sneakers). These come in a 2-pair pack in nude, black, or assorted. Here’s a little more about the new product:

The Kushyfoot Flats-To-Go were the other product that I had the chance to try. These are soft, thin, flexible shoe/slippers that are great to take when your feet need a break. I think the Flats-To-Go would be perfect for someone who spends a long day in heels. It’s nice to be able to slip them off when they start to hurt your feet. You can just keep the flats in your purse and pull them out whenever and wherever you need them. They fold into a small size and come with a buttoned carrying case that is simple to take along. I was impressed that the shape of these shoes holds up well even after being folded in the package for quite a while. You would never know once you open them and slip them on your feet. They are smooth and look cute too. The only issue I had with these was that they were too tight for my big feet. I was on the high end of the size I received, but they dug into my heal. I passed these along to my mom to use and enjoy since her feet are a little smaller than mine. I still really like these, but I would recommend going up one size if you need.

Chili’s Triple Dipper Review + {$20 Gift Card Giveaway – Ends 7/7} (CLOSED)

Chili’s has long been a favorite restaurant for me. I love Mexican food, but we don’t have many options around here. At Chili’s you can get a great burger, salads, TexMex, and so much more.

I was excited to hear about the Chili’s Triple Dipper combo. There is so much to choose from with this appetizer sampling option. As you might expect all of the choices come with a dip. The options for the Triple Dipper include Loaded Potato Skins, Memphis BBQ Skins, Honey-Chipotle Shrimp, Big Mouth Bites, Boneless Buffalo Wings, Southwestern Eggrolls, Chicken Crispers, Wings Over Buffalo, Fried Cheese and Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip. And or course all these options come with a dipping sauce of their own.


My family and I stopped at Chili’s in Charlottesville, VA on our way to the Outer Banks (vacation a few weeks ago). We had been in the car all day and were definitely ready for a good meal and cool drinks.



The Chili’s menu had lots of great items to choose from. I was there to get their Triple Dipper combo, so that’s what I did. I chose the Boneless Buffalo Wings with ranch dip, Southwestern Eggrolls with avocado ranch, and Hot Spinach & Artichoke dip. Everything on my plate (a very large plate) was delicious. The flavors were great and I loved all the dips. The Southwestern Eggrolls were probably my favorite. They were a bit spicy, but the avocado ranch provided a cool balance and enhanced all the flavors.



Matt (who just loves having his picture taken) ordered the Fajita Trio, which features grilled steak, chicken, and spicy garlic and lime shrimp. He also added a side of Memphis Dry Rub Ribs. He was completely sold on the ribs, but he’s pretty picky about ribs anywhere he goes.



My son, Zachariah (cheesy smile included) ordered from the Pepper Pal Kid’s Menu. He picked out the Pepper Pals Little Chicken Crispers with a side of mashed potatoes. I couldn’t believe how much he ate. He is a pretty good eater, but he must have been really hungry this night. The quantities were large, so he didn’t eat all his chicken. He did finish the potatoes, then he helped sample all of my food and ate the rest of my spinach dip and tortilla chips.

We thoroughly enjoyed our little stop at Chili’s. I can’t recommend them enough. You won’t leave disappointed. And if I might say, try the Triple Dipper combo. You can have it as a meal or share it with a few friends for an appetizer.

A good breakfast is important to starting everyone’s day. I eat breakfast every day, and in fact, everyone in my family does. I know how what it takes to get my day started right, so fueling my body the right way matters.

I do anything from eggs and sausage to cold cereal to oatmeal for my breakfasts. I do prefer a hot breakfast, but sometimes I don’t have the time or am too lazy to cook anything. Along comes Seneca Farms Oatmeal & Fruit. This is a prepackaged ready-to-go oatmeal with fruit in it.

I really liked this oatmeal. I love oatmeal of just about every variety. The thing about this is that it’s easy for a busy family. My son does not usually eat oatmeal. I’ve tried fixing it different ways, and he’ll always eat a few bites but that’s it. The Seneca Farms Oatmeal & Fruit he gobbles up. He’ll eat the whole container. These did not last long in my house, but now I know how to get my son to eat oatmeal.

I really enjoyed this story. Who wouldn’t enjoy modern day cowboys?! I really got into the story of Tricia. And then there is the intrigue of the Creed twins. Connor seems to be the quiet introspective one, and he’s dealing with some hurt feelings from his brother Brody. Will the boys learn to get along? Will Tricia find happiness?

If you’re into light romances, you’ll enjoy this book. The beautiful setting in Colorado makes the story that much better. Creed’s Honor by Linda Lael Miller is a great book that will leave you looking for the other Creed books. You can find Creed’s Honor in stores and online now.

My son loved Patti the Pelican and the Gulf Oil Spill by Lynda Deniger very much. He also confiscated the CD that comes along with it the moment he found it. I know he listened that that in his room at bedtime over and over. In fact he was quoting me lines from it one day, and I couldn’t figure out where he got it from. I had only read the story to him a few times when that happened, but he know the story better than me.

I really enjoy children’s literature. And a book that is fun and engaging for kids is the best. With Patti the Pelican and her pals Sammy Seagull and Dottie Dolphin children will love this tale. The characters are fun, yet the story portrays the Gulf Oil Spill in an appropriate way to children too.

I would recommend Patti the Pelican and the Gulf Oil Spill by Lynda Deniger as an addition to any child’s book library. It is well done and your kids will enjoy it. We got to try the Sweet Maui Onion Hawaiian Kettle Chips and Luau BBQ Hawaiian Kettle Chip. I was immediately impressed. All their flavors look yummy so trying any of them was going to be fun, but it just happens that I love sweet onion flavored chips. I know several brands that carry it, and it’s one of my favorites. The Sweet Maui Onion Hawaiian Kettle Chips were probably the best I’ve had. The flavor was right on and the chips have a nice crunch. They were crisp and perfectly flavored. I can’t wait to get some more of these to eat. The Luau BBQ Hawaiian Kettle Chips were really good as well. The barbeque flavor in these was wonderful, and they have a nice spiciness to them too. I can only eat so many, because the heat in these creeps up on you. But to me they were a good spicy, full of flavor and addicting. I would love to try the other Hawaiian Chip flavors, and the rings sound good too.
