Bob the Builder: Heavy Duty Diggers DVD Review

Bob the Builder: Heavy Duty Diggers is a fun DVD with all-new CGI animation. Bob, Wendy, Roley, Muck, Scrambler, Scoop, Dizzy, and others on the crew are back at it with new construction jobs.  With their optimistic outlooks on every project they tackle, Bob the Builder and his Can-Do crew will be able to accomplish anything with teamwork.

Bob the Builder and his crew are at a new location this time in Harbor Town.  Lofty helps to build a new surf school from an old shack.  And new machine, Scratch joins the crew and assists Scoop at the museum.  Scrambler tackles a big project by himself, building a tree house at the school.

We've enjoyed Bob the Builder for many years. It probably has a lot to do with my sons love for tractors and other big machines and vehicles.  Bob the Builder has all those things and more.  The animation and characters are always relate-able and fun for young children.  This newest DVD Bob the Builder: Heavy Duty Diggers has the same fun effect. It didn't disappoint us, and I feel confident recommending it to any parent of young kids.

The episodes in Bob the Builder: Heavy Duty Diggers include "Scratch's Hidden Treasures", "Scrambler's Best Idea", "High Tide for Lofty", "Scoop the Artist", and "Lofty and the Monster".  This DVD is targeted at children ages 2-5 years old.  And the video runs about 46 minutes long.  You can learn more about Bob the Builder on his website www.bobthebuilder.com.

Buy It: The Bob the Builder: Heavy Duty Diggers DVD is available in stores and online now.

John Deere Earth Movers DVD - Ends May 2nd

John Deere Earth Mover Action DVD Review + {Giveaway}

I have a 4 year old son. My son has always loved tractors, trucks, just about anything with wheels that moves. I think that's pretty typical for a little boy.  I'll never forget when he was barely old enough to talk and pointed out a "front loader" to me in the store. I have learned many things about tractors and things in the last 4 years.

John Deere has definitely figured out children's love for tractors.  With all the John Deere toys and other products I can see that they are interested in education children as well.  This John Deere Earth Mover Action DVD does just that.  They have taken things that kids love about big machines and made it fun and educational at the same time.  And any adult who might be interested in tractors can enjoy this movie right along with the kids. I know my father-in-law would probably enjoy this movie along-side my son.

In John Deere Earth Mover Action there are many pieces of large machinery to check out- excavators, front-end loaders, graders, scrapers, and backhoes.  And they each have their own purposes and projects, like plowing snow in the mountains or moving big rocks.  There are even fun scenes with die-cast toys mining candy at the Big Rock Candy Mountain Quarry. Fun!

My son and I enjoyed this DVD very much. Like I mentioned before Zachariah has always enjoyed tractors.  He loved the part with the snowplows, plus they show that scene again in reverse. And the live-action parts with the toys loading candy and stuff is fun for him. He wants to set that scene up and do it with his tractors. Ha!

The John Deere Earth Mover Action DVD is targeted to children ages 3 and up.  It runs about 40 minutes long.  And it has received the Parents' Choice and the Parenting Magazine award for excellence.

Buy It: John Deere Earth Mover Action DVD is available for purchase now in stores and online as well.

Spring/summer sickness

You know, the only thing worse than being sick in the winter is being sick in the spring/summer.  It is 80 degrees outside today and I don't feel like enjoying it. I've been fighting some allergy headaches off and on this week. Then last night my throat started getting scratchy and by the time I woke up I had a full-blown cold. Blah!

Making it worse, Zachariah woke up with the same problems as me. He seems much more resilient to illness though. It doesn't bother him at all, other than running in for a new tissue now and then.  Me, I hate being all stuffed up. And the worst of it at the moment it the sinus drainage. It's making my tummy upset.

I'm hoping that this cold doesn't stick around. I know the warm weather isn't for now. So maybe by the time it warms up again I'll be ready to get out and enjoy it again.

A consolation of being sick is Matt doesn't mind doing things for me. I don't feel like cooking, and I'd planned to go to the store today to get things to round out a few meals.  But I didn't have the energy to get out.  So Matt offered to bring something home to eat.  I'll take it.  I don't need babied much when I'm sick, so the little things make me feel good.

"Lonestar Homecoming" Book Review

Set in the state of Texas, Lonestar Homecoming by Colleen Coble is a wonderful romantic fiction book.  Gracie is on the run with her daughter, Hope. They find refuge in an unlikely source, a single, military father of two, who just returned home to care for his children after a tour of duty.  Will Gracie be able to set down roots somewhere or will her problems keep haunting her?

Lonestar Homecoming was a great modern day romance.  The characters were down to earth and very likable.  They all came with a little baggage.  When Hope and Michael started to fall in love, they quickly realized that their baggage would just follow along.  With all the bumps in the road, and some unexpected visitors, they discovered that leaving casting aside their fears and completely trusting in God to protect and provide is the only way to live.

I enjoyed the Texas scene in this book. I've never been there, but Coble pasted a great picture of what it is like within her story.  As a mother I enjoyed the story line with Gracie and her daughter. In the midst of everything that was happening, caring for her daughter was always her number one concern.

Lonestar Homecoming is the 3rd in a series by Colleen Coble. I have not read the first two books, but this book was just fine as a stand alone novel.  I am very interested in checking out the other books in the Lonestar Series soon, though.

Buy It: Lonestar Homecoming is available in stores everywhere and online as well

*Thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishing for providing a copy of this book to me. I was not paid to post this, and what I wrote is my opinion.*

EvorKids oral care for kids Review + {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

We recently tried a new product for kids.  EvoraKids is "a probiotic all-natural cherry chewable for kids ages 3-10 and it helps to support healthy teeth and gums".  I was interested in this product, because I have a 4 year old and I've always been concerned about this teeth and the care of them.

Fortunately we've yet to experience any problems with our son's teeth.  With proper care and education we hope to keep it that way.  From a young age (a very young) age, I've made teeth brushing a priority with my son. I used to bribe him with stickers when it was time to brush his teeth every day.  Now he does it willingly. He does a pretty good job on his own, but I insist on brushing them again when he's done.  I think he's a bit young to be trusted to completely get them by himself.

I was intrigued by EvoraKids, because they are to help children after brushing.  It's meant to get into the places that kids miss with the toothbrush and floss.  They are cherry berry tabs that are easy for young kids to chew up.  It also help[s to eliminate bad bacteria found in dental plaque.  It's an easy product to give children, and with the flavor they love taking it.

Other things I like about EvoraKids are that it's 100% natural, made in the USA in an FDA and GMP certified facility.  And there is no sugar in it, so it's safe to take after teeth brushing.  Go see many more facts and details on their website.

Zachariah likes taking the EvoraKids chewable after brushing his teeth twice a day.  He says they taste like "grape".  He just turned 4, so take that as you want. The flavor is called Wild Very Cherry Berry.  I have never seen anything like this, and I love the idea. Of course it's hard to measure the success, but I think it's a great product for families with young kids especially.

Thomas & Friends: Thomas & The Runaway Kite DVD Review + {Giveaway} (CLOSED)

It's been a windy spring here in Ohio. Great kite weather for children and adults alike. We don't have a kite for our son, but we've seen plenty of other people outside taking advantage of the wind with their lovely kites.

If you or your children are into kite flying, you'll definitely enjoy this new DVD from Thomas & Friends: Thomas & The Runaway Kite.  And you know, even if you're not into kites, this DVD still has plenty of other things that any Thomas lover will enjoy time and time again.

With this never-before-seen DVD, Thomas & Friends: Thomas & The Runaway Kite features full CG animation and individual voices for all the engines.  It's also hosted by Driver Perkins, who is back from his stint in Thomas & Friends: Splish Splash Splosh. And an ornery parrot has to help save the day.  From the publisher "Teaching timeless life lessons such as discovery, friendship and cooperation, the Thomas & Friends animated series invites children to enter a world of imagination through the tracks of a train and the words of a story."

As you may have already guessed, there is a runaway kite that Thomas must track down before the wind blows it right off the Island of Sodor.  With friends like Toby, Charlie, and Gordon, Thomas is sure to rescue the kite, save a swarm of bees, and stop disasters from happening.  The episodes include: "Thomas & the Runaway Kite", "Buzzy's Bees", "Toby's New Whistle", and "The Biggest Present of All".

This DVD also includes games "How Many Shapes Do You See" and "Find What Doesn't Belong" for your children to play right on the DVD player.  It is targeted at children ages 2-5 years old.  And it runs about 46 minutes long.  Don't miss this high-flying ride!
