Do you know where your food comes from? Do you know what you are eating?
Stonyfield Organic is running a fun campaign this year challenging families to learn more about where there food comes from and what's in it.
Stonyfield Declares 2012 the Year to Get to Know Your Food
Londonderry NH (January 30, 2012) – This year, Stonyfield is making it easier to get to know more about the food we eat. The world’s leading organic yogurt maker is launching a year-long Know Your Food campaign aimed at helping people get to know more about the what’s really in the foods in their refrigerators, freezers and pantries. At a time when the origins and ingredients of what we eat are becoming increasingly hard to decipher, Stonyfield is offering tools and resources to help empower people to make the best food choices for themselves and their families.
The
Stonyfield Know Your Food campaign kicks off with a new website
www.IWillKnowMyFood.com, where people can learn about the farm-to-fridge journey and why what we eat matters. The site will feature a frequently changing roster of food, agriculture and health experts offering insights into how food is produced, what’s really in the things we eat, and how all of this impacts our bodies, our communities and our planet. The site also showcases a selection of short mini-documentaries for people to watch and share with friends and family.
"We all know the saying – you are what you eat. Today, with the overwhelming variety of food choices available, it’s important that people have resources to help them understand how what they are putting in their bodies impacts their health, from helping boost energy to preventing disease and more," said Ashley Koff RD, author of Mom Energy and contributor to the Stonyfield Know Your Food campaign website. "It’s so important for us all to know the truth about our food and feel empowered when we make quality food choices."
To celebrate the launch of the
Stonyfield Know Your Food campaign, people are invited to log on to
www.IWillKnowMyFood.com and enter a photo of their refrigerator for a chance to win a Know Your Food Adventure including four nights at a bed and breakfast in Vermont, complete with organic breakfasts, real-life farm experience, and an abundance of information about organic farming. The winner will also get a fridge makeover, including a consultation with a nutritionist, a year's worth of free Stonyfield Organic products and a $500 shopping trip to stock the fridge and pantry with healthy food!
"It’s no wonder people are hungry for knowledge and seeking food sources they can trust, with the abundance of studies proving that chemical agricultural practices are harming us and the planet," said Stonyfield Co-Founder and Chairman Gary Hirshberg. "It’s clear that we’re in a time when, more than ever, people want to know everything possible about their food. Stonyfield got its start as a nonprofit sustainable farming school and we see this campaign as yet another extension of our roots."
The
Stonyfield Know Your Food campaign will last throughout 2012, with new and fresh information updated frequently, as well as additional contests and interactive features to come. To stay informed, sign up for updates at

The product: I got to try some new
Stonyfield products recently. Up until now we'd pretty much only tried
Stonyfield plain yogurt. I used to buy their YoBaby when my son was young. I always felt good about feeding him wholesome yogurt.
Do you realize how many other products
Stonyfield has? I didn't. I was excited to see some great things in their product list. They have
YoBaby,
YoToddler,
YoBaby Drinkables,
YoBaby Meals,
YoKids and
YoKids Greek. They also have
Soy Yogurt,
Milk, and
Organic Activia. I was excited to see their
Oikos line with different flavors, types, and even drinkable yogurt.
What we thought: We tried the
Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt 4 packs and
YoKids . I tired the
Oikos Greek Yogurt Caramel and
Pomegranate. I love the
Caramel one, and it's a favorite go to sweet snack for me. It's great for a mid-morning pick-me-up, and I feel good about what I'm eating.
The
YoKids comes in several different varieties and flavors. We decided to try the
Cherry & Berry Squeezers. My son loves these. With wholesome, organic ingredients I know that this is a great snack or addition to his lunch. With the yogurt tubes, it's great to put them in the freezer, then they can thaw in my son's lunch bag. He has cold yogurt just in time for lunch. And I know I'm giving him something good for him and healthy.
I did try to find the
Oikos Greek Drinkable Yogurt. It sounds really good, and I liked the regular
Oikos. The problem was I couldn't find it anywhere. I had enough trouble finding anything that
YoBaby or
Oikos Greek Yogurt around here. Everyone carries those, but the others are harder to come by. I happened to find the
YoKids at Kroger in a neighboring town. But no luck on the drinkable yogurt. (Keep reading if you know where to find it near you.)
Where to buy: You can fiind many different varieties of
Stonyfield Yogurt in grocery stores all over. Check their website for availability.
How to connect: Be sure to check out
Stonyfield's www.IWillKnowMyFood.com campaign. You can learn more about their products on their website too-
www.Stonyfield.com. And they are on
Facebook.
Prize: I still have a few coupons for free product that
Stonyfield sent to me. I'd like to find someone to use them before they expire. (They are good through the end of this year.) I have coupons for FREE
4-pack of Stonyfield Organic Oikos Drinkable Greek Yogurt (x2) and FREE
YoKids Yogurt 6-pack or
8-pack Squeezers.
Giveaway: I want to make sure that you can get these products before you sign up. If you know for sure that you can find these particular products in your store, I'd be happy to send them to you.
Leave a comment with which product you can get in your store (Oikos Drinkable Greek Yogurt and/or YoKids Yogurt). Then I will draw a winner from the list of people who are interested. If you have questions, just
email me.
There will be 3 winners. This giveaway is for US residents only. The contest will be open until 12:01est 5/9/12.
